To create a universal digital wallet, we need to think big. In the case of Android, we built it to support every size, price, and mobile platform, and today, Android is the most popular mobile operating system in the world. Likewise, we need to create a universal digital wallet that's open, inexpensive, and secure. Just like a physical wallet, a universal digital wallet should work no matter where it's used.
The Digital India programme envisions a society where everyone has access to the digital world. While this is a laudable Universal digital goal, it isn't backed by concrete data. We know that digital literacy is important for e-governance, but there are no concrete studies that prove the benefits of universal digital literacy. However, the social challenges that come with digital access should not be underestimated.
To enable this, the Coupon Bureau, a nonprofit organization, is working with several major brands to develop a universal digital coupon. This collaboration will enable hundreds of CPG brands to implement a secure mechanism for distributing coupons, and a centralized database for offers. This will dramatically expand the use of digital coupons and make them more accessible and convenient to use.
